Volunteer Coaches Needed! Primary/GCSE or A Level

The Role
- This volunteer role involves acting as an academic coach at Primary, Secondary, or Sixth Form level at a 2:1 pupil:coach ratio over the course of a 15 hour programme.
- Your pupils will meet at least one disadvantage criteria; such as free school meal recipient, or young carer.
- For Primary and Secondary programmes, your coaching will be in a core subject area (i.e. English, Maths, or Science).
- For Sixth Form programmes, we offer coaching in a broader range of subjects.
- Your role consists in planning and delivering weekly coaching sessions of either 60 or 75 minutes to your 2x regular coachees.
- You will have the option to coach on either an online or in-person, in-school programme.
- You will be part of a larger team of university student coaches, coming together each week to deliver sessions to your regular students.
Coach Development

- Help young people from disadvantaged backgrounds build confidence, independence, and resilience in their learning.
- Gain demonstrable transferable skills in leadership, communication, and relationship building.
- Build experience in education and working with young people.
- Qualify for the SSAT student leadership accreditation to showcase your skills and experience to employers.
- Receive references to help you with your future career!
Logistics
- Before beginning your coaching programme, you will receive comprehensive training from us on coaching skills and techniques, session planning, and safeguarding.
- Throughout the duration of the programme, your Programme Officer and Coach Lead will be on hand to support you with your coaching experience.
- We work in schools all across London, and will try our best to place you on a programme convenient to your address.
- Any travel expenses incurred will be reimbursed by CoachBright.
- Your weekly sessions will take place at the same day and time each week.
About CoachBright
- CoachBright is an education charity, established in 2014, with the goal of promoting social mobility and making education fairer.
- Throughout the last academic year, we worked with approximately 4000 university students from universities across London, the South East, South West, and West Midlands (our main 4 hubs).
- We constantly endeavor to provide a fruitful experience for all the young pupils we work with, and also to provide a supported, informative, and worthwhile experience for all the wonderful volunteers who choose to work with us.

Can be a relatable role models for their pupils
We ask that our coaches meet at least one the following academic requirements:
- Studying or have studied at degree level (over 18s only)
- An A*-B grade at A-level (or international equivalent) in your chosen tutoring subject or similar discipline (i.e. A-level history to tutor GCSE English Literature)
- A 7-9 (A*/A) at GCSE level (or international equivalent) in the chosen tutoring subject.
