The gardens include a variety of separate spaces with year round interest created by annual bedding schemes, traditional perennials and half-hardy tropicals in the borders.
• Assist with the presentation of the garden
• Weeding flower beds.
• Sweeping and tidying paths.
• Assist with turf care operations such as scarifying and edging
• Assist with composting.
• Skilled cover for watering etc. during periods of leave and sickness.
• Providing security and conversation, (when needed) for patients who need to
be alone and out of the clinical environment in times of distress.
Gardening at St Joseph’s Hospice has many aspects: from the therapeutic value, to the nitty gritty of recycling and managing a formal garden whilst keeping wildlife in mind.
- Gain new skills and experience in a unique horticultural environment.
- Training provided.
- Work within a friendly team.
3-6 hours a week on Mondays and/or Fridays. Thursdays may also be and option.
Desirable:
- Some experience of working/volunteering in a palliative care setting.
- PA1/PA2 spraying certificates.
