We are seeking a creative and motivated Social Media Officer Volunteer to join our campaigns and communications team. This is an exciting opportunity for students or recent graduates looking to build their portfolio while contributing to a meaningful cause in the reproductive health sector. You will support BPAS in expanding our online presence, especially as we grow our TikTok platform and enhance our social media campaigns.
This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about reproductive rights, have a strong understanding of social media trends, and can create visually appealing, engaging content. You'll play a key part in helping us communicate our mission to a wider audience, raise awareness about our services, and engage with our supporters.
Key Responsibilities:
- Content Creation: Design eye-catching graphics, infographics, and visuals using Canva for social media platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, X, TikTok and LinkedIn.
- Video Editing: Create, edit, and optimise videos for TikTok, Instagram Reels, and other platforms to engage younger audiences and amplify our message.
- Campaign Support: Assist the team with ongoing social media campaigns (e.g. newly launched Contraception campaign) and projects that raise awareness of BPAS services and advocacy.
- Audience Engagement: Help monitor social media platforms for engagement, responding to comments and messages in line with BPAS’ messaging and values.
- Social Media Trends: Stay up-to-date with the latest trends in social media and digital content to propose innovative ideas for posts and campaigns.
- Reporting & Analytics: When needed assist in tracking the performance of posts and social media campaigns, providing insights to improve engagement and reach.

As a Social Media Officer Volunteer at BPAS, you'll gain valuable hands-on experience in digital marketing and content creation within the charity sector. You'll develop skills in crafting engaging social media campaigns, using tools like Canva to create eye-catching visuals, and editing videos for platforms like TikTok. You'll also learn how to communicate a variety of topics, from promoting healthcare services and health education to advocating for policy changes and healthcare reform. Additionally, you'll gain experience analysing social media performance, adapting strategies, and raising awareness for important causes within reproductive rights.
- Experience in Canva: Ability to create visually appealing and professional content.
- Video Editing Skills: Experience editing videos for TikTok or similar platforms, with an eye for storytelling and engagement.
- Strong Visual Eye: A good understanding of what makes content appealing and engaging across different social media platforms.
- Understanding of Social Media Platforms: Familiarity with Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, X and LinkedIn, and how to optimise content for each.
- Passion for BPAS' Mission: Enthusiasm for reproductive rights and BPAS values, with a desire to contribute to advocacy.
- Self-Starter: Ability to work independently and take initiative on creative projects.
- Good Communication Skills: Strong written communication skills, especially for captions and social media posts.
