Refugee Week Festival Volunteer

What You'll Do:

ACAA's Refugee Week Festival will take place this year at West London's Cranford Community College, High Street, Hounslow TW5 9PD on Saturday, 22nd and Sunday 23rd June 2024 from 10am to 8pm. The first day of the combined arts festival will focus on South Asia, the second on Afghanistan, witnessing 5000 people per day. The event marks Refugee Week, an annual celebration of the contributions, creativity and resilience of refugees which, this year, is themed around ‘Our Home’. The family friendly festival will showcase music and dance, food and crafts from South Asia on the Saturday, and explore Afghan culture on the Sunday.

As a volunteer, you will play an essential role in ensuring that our event runs smoothly and creates an enjoyable experience for all attendees. This is a great opportunity to gain valuable experience in event planning and management, while contributing to a fun and exciting community event where we celebrate the spirit of Afghanistan and Ukraine.

● Help with crowd control and safety management.

● Assist with ticket sales and admissions.

● Help with merchandise sales and management.

● Assist with event promotion and marketing, including handing out flyers and promoting the event on social media

Why You'll Love It:

● Gain valuable experience in event planning and management.

● Develop customer service and communication skills.

● Contribute to a fun and exciting cultural event.

● Meet new people and make new connections.

● Receive a letter of recommendation upon completion of the volunteer assignment.

● Get free entry to the festival , choice of free food from any of the stalls, and reimbursement of travel.

What We're Looking For:

Volunteers helping with planning and logistics can work flexibly (at least 2 days a week from Monday - Friday, in-person or remote)

Volunteers helping with on-the-day duties will be required to take various shifts on Saturday (22.6.24) and Sunday (23.6.24). Shifts will be approximately 6-8 hours long, and volunteers may sign up for as many shifts as they wish.
