Volunteer with holiday club for refugee children and young people

What You'll Do:

Our aim is to improve their confidence, self-esteem and enjoyment of life.

We take the children out on trips - to the cinema, to an adventure playground, to museums and theatres, climbing, kayaking, etc - and we also do fun activities at our base, such as games and arts and crafts. These are great opportunities for the children and young people to experience new and exciting activities that they wouldn't do otherwise. It helps to develop their confidence and self-esteem, and also their fluency in English - and they're also great fun!

We need your help supervising the children whilst we are out on trips and helping with the activities.

Why You'll Love It:
  • It's fun!
  • Meet new people and make friends
  • Contribute to a project that really does make a difference to the lives of refugee and migrant children
  • Learn new skills
  • Reasonable travel expenses to and from the club will be reimbursed.

What You'll Learn:
  • Teamwork, flexibilty and patience.
  • Supervision skills
  • Motivation and communication skills

We provide training about our holiday club plus Safeguarding & Child Protection training.

What We're Looking For:

We believe a good Holiday Club volunteer needs:

  • A warm personality and a good sense of humour
  • A sensitivity to other cultures and an ability to communicate successfully across cultures
  • Reliability, patience and flexibility
  • Good spoken and written English
