Hand-holding Volunteers

What You'll Do:

As a hand-holding volunteer you'll be a support for patients who may be feeling anxious/worried about their surgery. You'll make yourself available to patients in the waiting area, chat with them and if requested join them while they are having their surgery and hold their hand while they are being operated on.

Why You'll Love It:

As a Friends volunteer you'll be able to provide small, but kind actions that go a long way for those living with eye conditions/visual impairment.

It'll give you a great sense of purpose and will give you experience and skills that can be transferred into any career path.

What You'll Learn:

You'll learn a lot including interpersonal skills, and will gain experience of a hospital-setting.

What We're Looking For:

We are looking for patient, calm and empathetic volunteers who are willing to speak and listen to our patients.
