Include.org
Making the world more welcoming for people with understanding and speaking difficulties.
ABOUT US:

We provide community projects, training and consultancy combining music, creativity and fun – to teach people better ways of including and involving people with understanding or speaking difficulties.  Include is all about thinking outside the box: music, games, cake and laughter are our tools to bring inclusive communication to life and to take us one step closer to an inclusive world. To Include someone is to unlock their potential and we guarantee you’ll be surprised at what people can achieve.

WHY OUR WORK MATTERS:

Around 1 in 5 people in the UK have a communication disability (difficulty with understanding or speaking) resulting from a range of conditions (including learning disabilities, autism and dementia).

Communication difficulties lead to:
Isolation
Mental Health Difficulties
Health Inequalities
Reduced Employment Opportunities
Low Self Esteem
Isolation
Lack of Independence.

We can reduce all of these by learning the inclusive communication skills which help to include people with understanding and speaking difficulties. In the same way that some one in a wheelchair needs a ramp to access a building, people with cognitive communication needs need people with the skills to include them and enable them to access the services we take for granted. Include.org is building that ramp.

THINGS WE ARE PROUD OF:
We are proud of the difference we make to the lives of our members and local community through the Include Choir. We are so proud of empowering our members to educate others about their needs and legal rights, particularly through our work with the National Mental Capacity Action Forum. We are proud of the feedback we receive and that we have never failed to elicit the words 'inspirational and uplifting', whether performing at The Barbican Theatre or at an NHS conference We are proud of being able to embed our values and inclusive practice into the training we deliver, enabling others to be the ramp that's needed for people with understanding and speaking difficulties everywhere. We are proud of our volunteer family who make the organisation what it is do so much to improve the lives of others.

HOW WE ARE DIFFERENT:

We guarantee that you won't have met an organisation like us. We take a unique attitude to changing the lives of people with cognitive communication needs by taking the speech and language therapy research and delivering the skills training in a creative and uplifting way which makes people feel that they have had the best day. Always a little crazy, you might find yourself singing about dinosaurs one week, and training hospital consultants the next. We work hard to ensure that our members are at the centre of everything we do and try to learn from them so the organisation is constantly growing and developing: That is why we get this feedback:

'Better than any 'professional' training I've ever seen (A Ruck Keene, Barrister, Court of Protection)'Uplifting' 'Joyful' 'Inspiring' 'Fantastic!'
- Audience Members

'It makes me happy. I want it to be for ever and ever' (L, Choir Member)'This is such a special organisation. my week would not be complete without the Include Choir'.
