R2S matches ethnic minority female and male volunteer role models with young people to provide positive inspirational and motivational workshops, alongside sharing stories of their journey to succeed in their chosen careers. Routes2Success will reach 600 ethnic minority young people to provide positive role models from similar backgrounds, supporting with careers advice, entrepreneurial skills, making positive choices and guidance to overcome obstacles and those who are most affected will have dedicated mentors.
Our work looks to create better outcomes for ethnic minority young people both in school and in their future lives. The following statistics illustrate the importance of our work:

- Black Caribbean children are over-represented by four time in PRUs when compared to the national population’s ethnic breakdown.
- The number of permanent exclusions increased by 71% in the UK between 2013 and 2020, with Black Caribbean students five times more likely to be excluded.
We are looking for people who have:
- Good oral and written communication skills.
-A positive attitude and ability to work as part of a team.
Good interpersonal skills.
Ability to plan, prioritise own work and to meet deadlines.
General:
- A strong personal commitment to racial equality and diversity.
- Good written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to work occasional evenings as necessary.
- Previous experience engaging with young black males or young BAME females is desirable but not essential.
