Little Village is like a foodbank, but for clothes, toys and equipment for babies and children up to the age of 5. We’ve grown to be one of the largest ‘baby banks’ in the UK, supporting over 11,000 children since we launched in 2016. Families are referred to us via a network of over 1,800 professionals such as midwives and social workers. Little Village’s vision is that every child in the capital has the essential items they need to thrive.
We supported 7000 children in 2020, the highest number we have ever supported in one year.
40% of children in London are growing up in poverty.
1.3million of the 4.2million children living in poverty in the UK are babies or toddlers under the age of 5.
The families we help are facing a range of challenges – homelessness, unemployment, low wages and domestic violence. 1 in 3 of the families we support are homeless or living in temporary accommodation. 1 in 4 families are being referred due to Covid related unemployment or hardship.
Poverty in the early years has a fundamental impact on life outcomes.
By alleivating some of the material effects of poverty on young children, and enabling their parents to have the headspace to embrace parenthood, we support strong outcomes for families living in poverty.
People who share our core values, and want to work with empathy.
An interest in supporting families with young children across London.
A passion for challenging the causes and impacts of poverty.
We are a young organisation with a strong entrepreneurial spirit. We have grown from one person's vision to one of the UK's largest baby banks in 5 years, and have driven the agenda in raising awareness of the impact of poverty on families with young children.
