What You'll Do:

The gardens include a variety of separate spaces with year round interest created by annual bedding schemes, traditional perennials and half-hardy tropicals in the borders.

• Assist with the presentation of the garden
• Weeding flower beds.
• Sweeping and tidying paths.
• Assist with turf care operations such as scarifying and edging
• Assist with composting.
• Skilled cover for watering etc. during periods of leave and sickness.
• Providing security and conversation, (when needed) for patients who need to
be alone and out of the clinical environment in times of distress.

Why You'll Love It:

Gardening at St Joseph’s Hospice has many aspects: from the therapeutic value, to the nitty gritty of recycling and managing a formal garden whilst keeping wildlife in mind.

What You'll Learn:
  • Gain new skills and experience in a unique horticultural environment.
  • Training provided.
  • Work within a friendly team.
What We're Looking For:

3-6 hours a week on Mondays and/or Fridays. Thursdays may also be and option.

Desirable:

  1. Some experience of working/volunteering in a palliative care setting.
  2. PA1/PA2 spraying certificates.
