Are you looking for a new volunteering opportunity? Volunteering with Alzheimer's Research UK is a great way to enhance your CV, meet new people and gain a new experience whilst supporting our mission to find a cure for dementia.
Join us to cheer on our incredible supporters taking on the iconic London Marathon runners fundraising for a cure.
We will have three unforgettable cheer squads stationed along the route. You will create an amazing atmosphere whilst being surrounded by likeminded.
One in two people know someone affected by dementia. Your support will give runners the motivation to push on.
Being a cheer squad volunteer is great fun too…
"I had a BRILLIANT day! There was so much energy at our cheer point… from the minute we turned the music on at 10am until we reluctantly started packing away at 3pm. When: Sunday 27th April 2025, 10:00-17:00 (or however much time you can spare!)

Alzheimer's Research UK will reimburse reasonable out of pocket expenses such as travel, within agreed guidelines.
We’ll provide you with all the materials you might want on the day including tambourines, whistles, accessories and a fantastic t-shirt!
Being a Cheer Squad volunteer is a great opportunity to:
- Volunteer alongside your friends and family at a fantastic event.
- Give back to your local community.
- Meet new people, who may have similar experiences to you.
- Gain experience of charity events management.
- Contribute volunteering hours to your course or studies.
- Build confidence by volunteering in a team with dozens of other volunteers.
- Support a cause that is relevant to you - one in two people know someone affected by dementia.
- Become part of the Alzheimer’s Research UK volunteering community, with other opportunities available to you.
- Meet new people, who may have similar experiences to you.
- Gain experience of charity events management.
- You can be loud, steady, extravagant or sensible, so long as you provide encouragement.
- Able to plan your own travel to the event. Reasonable travel expenses can be reimbursed.
- Events are outside in all weathers, so you will need to be comfortable with this.
- You will need to be able to stand for several hours or bring something to sit on.
