International volunteering in Europe

What You'll Do:

Are you looking to volunteer internationally? We have funded places available for you to apply for!

What have other people said about the scheme?

This is the first time we're running the scheme at City St George's, but there are plenty of stories from volunteers on Indigo's website. You can browse them here. We particularly like these:

Bridging words through education

Emily in Nea Kavala, Greece

What will I do?

We run this scheme in partnership with Indigo Volunteers, who support refugees by connecting ethical humanitarian projects with volunteers - free, fast and with a positive impact on displaced communities. Volunteering placements last at least 4 weeks and take place across Europe, primarily in France, Greece and the Balkans. Volunteers are matched on a case-by-case basis, where your preferences and motivations will be taken into account to place you into a suitable role that you're comfortable with. This could range from volunteering on the front desk of a shop for refugees, helping out in an activity and community centres for mothers and their children, or helping out in the field in laundry services or a language cafe. There's a role for everyone!

Do I have to pay?

Turing Scheme funding will be provided to all successful applicants. You will be given a basic rate of funding for the month, depending on the country's living costs. If you are eligable, you may receive a higher rate if you meet the criteria. For more information on this please email the Global Team at goglobal@city.ac.uk. Additional funding can be awarded for living and accommodation costs, provided by City St George's, and this will depend on the strength and number of applications we receive.

How do I apply?

To apply, you'll need to submit your application via the Indigo Volunteers website and select 'City St George's' when asked 'How did you hear about us?'. The form will take about 30 minutes and will ask about your skills and experiences, as well as your motivations for applying for the volunteering placement.

The link to apply is here: https://indigovolunteers.my.salesforce-sites.com/register

The deadline is apply is Sunday 12th January 2025.
