Mentor for young women

What You'll Do:

Mentors Wanted: Change a Young Person’s Life!

The charity provide help for vulnerable young women who may be suffering from self-esteem issues, bullying, family breakdowns, stress and anxiety, involvement in criminality and gangs, and those who may be at risk of exclusion. The mentors give the girls the opportunity to build up a trusted and mutual relationship for a set period of time, usually 12 months.

They will work alongside their identified mentee to work through their needs and discuss desired outcomes and how best to achieve them. During the agreed period the mentor will have regular dialogue with the mentee, whether in person, text, or via phone to help them overcome challenges, moving them forward to recognize their strengths and overcome low self-esteem/low confidence.

Are you passionate about making a difference? We’re seeking dedicated mentors in London to join our mentoring team. By sparing just one hour a week, you can positively impact a young girls life.

About the Mentoring Service:

  • Duration: This is a year-long journey where young people are paired with mentors.
  • Role: One to one mentoring with a young person.
  • Responsibility: Weekly face to face sessions for 1 hour a week.
  • Focus: Mentorship sessions revolve around the young person’s goals, collaboratively set with parents/guardians, mentors, and the mentee.
  • Flexibility: Weekly sessions accommodate the young person’s commitments and activities.
  • Expenses Covered: We believe money should never be a barrier. All session expenses are covered by the charity.
  • Broadening Horizons: Our sessions provide unique experiences, broadening mentees’ horizons and focusing on their goals.
  • Supportive Environment: Mentors receive training in addressing the challenges young people face. We have monthly group supervisions for all our mentors and you will be part of our mentoring WhatsApp group. Throughout your mentoring journey you will be supported the the mentor support officer and the CEO.
  • Supervision: Regular supervision ensures a positive mentoring journey.

Join us in shaping a brighter future for young people!

Application process: Once your application and CV is submitted we will review then invite you to an interview and training session. To note, this is a volunteer role*

Why You'll Love It:

  • Personal fulfilment through contribution to community and individuals
  • Accredited safeguarding training
  • Participation in online mentor network forum
  • Satisfaction in helping a teenager progress and achieve goals
  • Training session and group activities
  • On-going support to help mentors succeed
  • Participate in mentor gatherings throughout the year
  • Mentee and mentor group activities, complimentary tickets to community events
What You'll Learn:

As a mentor you'll learn that positive changes in the lives of young people do not happen quickly or automatically. The mentor and mentee must meet long enough and often enough to build a relationship that helps the young person feel supported and safe, develop self-confidence and self-esteem, and see new possibilities in life.

Throughout your mentoring journey, you'll discover that building a relationship and becoming a tusted adult takes time but consistently is key.

What We're Looking For:
  • Aged 21 and above
  • Willing and active listener
  • Encouraging and supportive
  • Patient and flexible
  • Tolerant and respectful of individual differences
  • Experience working with young people
  • Ability to work with young people from a range of cultures and backgrounds
  • Identify as female (we are a female only charity)
