Volunteer - Architect / Project Design

What You'll Do: 

We are currently seeking an enthusiastic and talented volunteer Architect to join our team as a volunteer Trainee Architect / Project Planner. 

 

Mind in the City, Hackney and Waltham Forest is a dynamic mental health charity based in East London. As an Volunteer Architect / Project Planner, you will be responsible for designing and implementing innovative and sustainable architectural projects that support our mission of promoting mental health and wellbeing in the community. 

 

We are specifically looking for someone to help with the design of our Community Hub in Homerton in Hackney which is in need of some structural adjustments. More details about the project are available.

We are specifically looking for someone with the design of our Community Hub in Homerton in Hackney which is in need of some structural adjustments. More details about the project are available. 

  

Responsibilities 

  • Collaborate with Mind CHWF to develop architectural concepts and designs that meet the needs of community Hub designs. 
  • Conduct site visits and analyse existing structures to determine feasibility of proposed designs. 
  • Create detailed architectural drawings and specifications using computer-aided design (CAD) software 
  • Ensure compliance with building codes, regulations, and health and safety standards. 
  • Manage and oversee construction projects, including budgeting, scheduling, and quality control 
  • Review and provide feedback on contractor proposals and bids 

Desired / Essential. 

  • Proven experience as an Architect, with a portfolio showcasing past projects  (D) 
  • Currently studying/ have achieved a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture, or other relevant qualification (E) 
  • Proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software, such as AutoCAD or SketchUp (D) 
  • Strong knowledge of architectural design principles, building codes, and regulations (D) 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills (E) 
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders, including community members, clients, and contractors (E) 
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills (D) 
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks effectively
