What You'll Do:

Sometimes people in the local community hold events on our behalf so it is important to have a Haven House volunteer represent us to show our support. We have seen first-hand the impact that having volunteers at events has made, it has led to increased awareness, money raised and additional support across the areas that we cover.

The role may also include volunteers attending and networking at events on behalf of Haven House and this could sometimes include giving a small speech about the work we do, picking up a cheque, being a judge at a bake off or attending a raffle or bingo evening. This key role helps to raise awareness of the hospice by providing presentations to a variety of organisations about the work and services we provide. Volunteers are also asked to look in their local communities at events and organisations where they could run a stand or hold a talk.

There will also be home-based research tasks within the Community and Events team to assist with promoting seasonal fundraising products. For example, you could be contacting local schools to take part in our Elf for a day project or contacting local businesses to help promote our Christmas Tree collection.

Many events and talks take place in the week with some occasional evening and weekend work. The fundraising team will email opportunities out to volunteers as they come in. You can sign up for the ones you are able to help out with. There is training available for this role with our fundraising team. This will cover how to speak about Haven House and answer questions. Our next training session will be in January. We can be flexible and also provide weekend and evening training where needed.

Why You'll Love It:

Meeting new people and getting to know the local area more. The events are lovely and its nice to experience different activities and have the chance to network.

What You'll Learn:

Team working , fundraising skills, presentation skills, networking, communicatio and organisation.

What We're Looking For:

We are looking for people that can be flexible, attend events and activities in the local area. Willing to learn more about Haven House. People that are happy to chat to other people about the organisation.
