Become a STEM Ambassador!

What You'll Do:

STEM Ambassador volunteers in universities range from those studying app design to meteorology to healthcare. They come from a vast and diverse range of backgrounds, but all use STEM in their studies. By volunteering a little of their time each year to support schools and youth groups STEM Ambassadors play an essential role in getting young people fired up about STEM subjects, careers and industries.

Through the STEM Ambassadors platform, teachers and youth group leaders can request a STEM Ambassador to support with a wide range of activities, either in-person or online. As a student, activities we recommend getting involved with include tutoring a young person in a STEM subject, supporting with UCAS applications, giving advice and sharing your university experience through mentoring programmes, and supporting with local STEM or coding clubs. It's up to you to decide what you would like to volunteer for and whether you want to support with an in-person or online activity. All we ask is that you take part in at least one activity every 12 months.

Our STEM Ambassador team will support you at all stages of volunteering, from the initial registration process and enhanced DBS check, getting you prepared with online training sessions, all the way up to helping you find the perfect volunteering opportunity.

We are constantly growing our STEM Ambassador community and would love if you were part of it!

Why You'll Love It:

As well as getting to support the next generation with exploring the world of STEM, you will have access to our Training Hub, home to our online training sessions and resources all designed to support with your volunteering journey and professional development. You can view a summary of the Training Hub here.

Additionally, you will be able to access our dedicated STEM Ambassadors Community, a place for you to connect with other Ambassadors, join groups with similar interests, and keep updated with news from the STEM Ambassadors team.

What We're Looking For:

Anyone with an interest in STEM! You may be currently studying for a STEM degree such as Engineering or Computer Science, have previously studied for a science qualification in the past, or are just interested in STEM and want to share your enthusiasm!
