What You'll Do:

As a Debate Mate Mentor, you will be an integral part of our mission to deliver high-quality debating programmes to children aged 10-16 in schools in areas of educational disadvantage. You will play a key role in nurturing the next generation of critical thinkers and confident communicators, equipping them with essential skills to shape their academic and personal success. While doing so, you will develop your key employability skills, enhance your CV and build your network.

Responsibilities:

Mentorship: Inspire and mentor students by serving as a positive role model. Cultivate a supportive and inclusive learning environment where students feel encouraged to express their thoughts and ideas confidently.

Programme Delivery: Facilitate engaging and interactive debate sessions that follow the Debate Mate curriculum. Guide students through various debate topics, teaching them effective argumentation, persuasive speaking, and teamwork.

Skill Development: Help students improve their critical thinking, research, and analytical skills. Encourage them to think critically about diverse issues and form well-rounded opinions.

Training and Development: Participate in comprehensive training sessions to enhance your mentoring and employability skills.

Reporting & Monitoring: Keep track of students' progress and provide regular feedback on their development. Maintain accurate records of session attendance, student progress, and other relevant data required for programme evaluation and reporting.
