Public Relations Volunteer

What You'll Do: 

Who are we?

CPRE London is a charity that fights to protect London’s green spaces. By volunteering with us you’ll be helping to find positive solutions for the issues facing the countryside and the environment. You’ll make a real difference and be a central part of a friendly and passionate charity.

 

What you will be doing:

  • Promoting our charity, including our events and campaigns
  • Being a point of contact for media, PR and marketing enquiries
  • Maintaining key fact sheets  
  • Writing articles, press releases, editorials and other media related copy
  • Building relationships with local media including newspapers, magazines, radio, tv and online outlets
  • Liaising with the press team at national CPRE

What We're Looking For: 

Can you help us raise our profile with the London media and wider stakeholders? As a comms and PR volunteer you’ll promote our charity and increase support by reaching new audiences. You’ll also join in with national campaigns. We’re ideally looking for volunteers with some previous public relations experience and a passion for environmental and countryside issues. You will work with our content, social media and website volunteer team.

 

The skills you need:

  • An interest in the countryside and environmental issues
  • Experience in writing engaging content for publication and the web
  • Good interpersonal skills and previous experience in building relationships with local media
  • Ability to use your initiative and a collaborative approach
  • Have access to a computer and the internet at home and be confident using them
  • Be able to commit to volunteering regularly to suit your availability, with occasional attendance at meetings

Visit a person at home and befriend them, offering communication support, and a fresh perspective from their daily routine. The person you visit will have aphasia, a communication disability, often stuck at home without support.
