Cheer our incredible runners across the finish line as they run to raise money for dementia research

What You'll Do:

Join Alzheimer's Research UK for the London Landmarks Half Marathon 2023 on Sunday 2 April 2023 and help cheer our incredible runners across the finish line as they run to raise money for dementia research.

We need you, your family and friends to whoop and cheer as loud as you can at our designated cheer point to give our #TeamARUK runners a vital boost as they go past, encouraging them to keep going and helping them achieve their goal.

We’ll have an incredible choir in position at our Cheer station located in Central London (nearest underground station Blackfriars) to give our #TeamARUK runners an almighty boost on their way around the course. All that’s left to make race day an experience our runners won’t forget, is our energetic, loud & extremely orange Cheer Squad!

We’ll provide you with all the materials you require including bells, wigs, whistles and cheering sticks to make you stand out in the crowd!

Why You'll Love It:

Last year more than 300 volunteers cheered at events which raised over £1 million for dementia research. To stop dementia once and for all, we need you standing with us. With your support, we can stop dementia from wreaking havoc on so many lives.

What You'll Learn:

In return, as one of Alzheimer’s Research UK’s Cheer squad volunteers you’ll benefit from:

  • Gaining a new volunteering experience and meeting an enthusiastic team of people.
  • Soaking up the unbeatable atmosphere of an iconic event set in spectacular surroundings.
  • Getting an insight into the charity sector and how sporting events are managed.
  • Support from a dedicated member of staff who will provide advanced briefing and a cheer team leader who will be on hand to support you throughout your volunteering on the day.
  • All cheer squad materials will be provided including a free Alzheimer’s Research UK orange T-Shirt.
What We're Looking For:

What are we looking for?

  • Enthusiasm!
  • A passion for supporting and motivating our #TeamARUK runners!
  • Commitment to be bold, loud and extremely orange!

Time Commitment

  • 9am – 12:15pm approx. (we appreciate whatever time you can spare, whether you can join us for the whole slot or just an hour or two!)
  • We’ll provide you with an event brief with the exact cheer point location details and corresponding timings.

Practical considerations

  • Plan your journey to the cheer station in advance.
  • You’ll be outdoors and standing for the duration of your volunteering so wear comfortable, weather appropriate clothing and footwear.
