Volunteer Digital Champion

What You'll Do:

Could you make a difference as a volunteer Digital Champion?

Digital Unite are looking for volunteer Digital Champions both to work remotely and at a Clarion Futures owned Community Centre. You will be supporting learners including complete beginners with their own or borrowed devices. You will help people to learn digital skills such as:

* use Google
* set up an email account
* look for health information online
* use an Amazon Alexa
* connect with friends and family using video calling

You need a good level of basic computer skills, but you don't have to be an IT genius. Much more important is having enthusiasm and patience to spend some time helping others to get online.

The in person sessions run weekly on a Wednesday afternoon 12:30 – 16:15, the remote sessions run weekly on a monday 15:00 - 16:15 and we ask volunteers to commit, where possible, to at least 12 sessions of support.

In return:

* Digital Unite will provide free accredited online training to support you in your role as a
Champion– and you’ll receive a Certificate and an online Open Badge for each course you
complete – you can put it on your CV and show others what you’ve done.
* Digital Unite will also provide ongoing support with a dedicated Champion Coordinator as
well as monthly online Meetup opportunities with other Champions
* Clarion Futures will carry out a free DBS check and reimburse you for travel expenses
* And you’ll get the immense satisfaction that you’ve made a difference to someone else!

What We're Looking For:

We are looking for people with a good understanding of how to use computers, smart phones and tablets to give peer support to people who are new to these devices.

You need a good level of basic computer skills, but you don't have to be an IT genius. Much more important is having enthusiasm and patience to spend some time helping others to get online.
