Community Ambassador Volunteer

What You'll Do:

Greener and Cleaner is looking for volunteers to act as Community Ambassadors to encourage greener living within their communities, promoting Greener and Cleaner as a source of advice and inspiration. We are especially interested in anyone with skills in:

  • Customer-facing roles
  • Outreach work
  • Fundraising

We’ve created a supportive, judgement-free, and engaging experience for visitors in our Hub, and we want to expand this with wider activity in communities across Bromley and beyond.

Your role will be central to connecting with the community, promoting Greener and Cleaner, running activities, and sharing on social media.

Why You'll Love It:

You’ll be part of our pilot project which, if successful, will see versions of The Hub rolled out across the UK, providing a blueprint for others to be shared and upscaled.

This is about engagement and encouragement: about trying and learning. We want to make people feel that whatever they can do helps. By attending events and learning new skills, this is all part of the small everyday changes they can make to help fight climate change. Your role will be central to the remote experience that people have of Greener and Cleaner.

What You'll Learn:

No past experience or in-depth knowledge of sustainable living or community support is required. Job training and Carbon Literacy training is provided to all volunteers, and there will be a host of other information you will have access to, such as the most common questions, concerns, and materials that we and other sustainability groups have created. You will be supported by a network of people who share a passion for all things green.

What We're Looking For:

Someone with great communication skills who likes to approach and meet new people, ideally with a background in any of the following:

  • Customer-facing roles
  • Outreach work
  • Fundraising
  • Comfortable working in a customer-facing role in a diverse community

A team player. We’re mostly all part-time and/or volunteers relying on, and supporting each other, in our various roles. We’re a very friendly bunch and warmly welcome new people on the team.

Training is provided, but a willingness to learn more about climate change, sustainability, biodiversity, air quality, active travel, etc. is very helpful.

If you have some experience with social media, this would also be beneficial to the role but not essential.

Knowledge of local activities and organisations would be beneficial but not essential.
