The Community Leadership Programme

The Community Leadership Programme exists to help you make a significant difference in the local community. You can apply for a start-up grant of up to £250 to get your project off the ground and, if you're successful, we will provide you with training and a highly experienced project management coach from top investment bank UBS.

 

Volunteers

Many people choose to volunteer whilst at university, but few rise to the challenge of creating their own project.There are lots of reasons why its hard to do so, but the rewards can be huge. Through launching the fund, we hope to make it easier for you to rise to the challenge and creatively meet some of the needs you see in the community.

Process

What do I need to know?

You must be:

  • A current student enrolled on a course at City
  • Prepared to run your project as a volunteer for one academic year and be the main contact for the project 

Funding criteria

We will be judging potential projects on the following criteria:

  • Positive impact on the local community
  • Skills that it would impart to students who volunteer on the project
  • How sustainable the project would be

Successful applications will need to meet the following criteria:

  • The project must meet an identifiable community need or the needs of a number of communities within London
  • The project must have a minimum of two team members
  • The project must be designed and led by City students    
  • The project must represent good value for mone
  • The project must be based in London
  • Project leaders must attend project leader training offered by City Volunteering
