Description

Introduction:

Our Helpline provides support to prisoners and their families whom have been affected by imprisonment across England and Wales. The Helpline also provides advice and information is to professionals working with families affected by imprisonment. The Helpline operates from our Central Office at 29 Peckham Road, London.

What you will be doing:

Dealing with daily telephone calls to the Helpline
Producing copies of literature to be used in the office
Collating data and inputting onto Pact systems
Signposting and completing referrals to existing Pact services and external organisations

What we are looking for:

A volunteer who lives in the Southwark or surrounding area
Experience or wish to gain experience in an office setting
Ability to work in a team or alone
Willingness to learn and follow Pact policies and procedures
A desire to help and provide support to those in need
An individual who is IT literate
Someone who can demonstrate good communication skills

Requirements:

As part of the recruitment process, we will need to carry out an basic DBS check and also seek two references from individuals that have known you for at least 2 years. We can accept reference from anyone except relatives or partners.

You will also be expected to attend one day role related training and access Pact safeguarding training.

Expenses:

We will reimburse travel expenses of up to £10 per day and £3.50 for lunch (if you have volunteered for a minimum of 4 hours in the same day). Expenses will only be reimbursed once a Pact expense claim form has been completed and relevant receipts have been provided.

Time Commitment:

The role is consists of shift based working as follows:

Monday - Friday 9:00am– 2:30pm (5.5hrs )
Monday - Friday 2.30pm – 8:00pm (5.5hrs )
Monday – Friday 5:00pm – 8:00pm (3 hrs)
Saturday - Sunday 10.00am – 3:30pm (5.5hrs)

We expect a minimum volunteer commitment of 1 shift per week, for a period of 6 months.

Training will be provided by the organisation for this position:

Full one day training will be provided by Pact. Volunteers will be reimbursed for their travel of this day
