Description

Do you have experience in the housing and welfare sector? In partnership with the Amy Winehouse Foundation, Centra are inviting Move-On Support Volunteers to help Young Women at Amy's Place, gain better independence. Amy's Place is a sheltered housing scheme in Hackney, for 18 - 30 year old women who are in recovery and receiving support for issues related to drugs, alcohol, or an eating disorder.

From as little as 1-2 hours per week, between Mondays to Fridays, 9 -5, your tasks could include:

- Supporting young women on how to keep a tenancy (e.g. helping them to set up standing orders/direct debits to pay bills and reduce arrears; how to apply for benefits if needed)

- Liaising with advisors, benefits services, charitable organisations, housing management, etc.

- Giving practical assistance on how to move on from supported to general needs accommodation: moving and setting up a home, advice and information on how to register with a GP and other services like childcare or counselling if needed

We hope that the volunteer can stay for a minimum of 4 months.
