Description

You will assist the team by booking appointments and carrying out pre-arranged telephone appointments with service users or their next of kin to take feedback about whether our advice and support has had a positive impact on their life. You may also work on other

Tasks will include:
• preparing appointment letters and stuffing envelopes
• using IT equipment, Microsoft Office systems and landline/mobile phones to deliver first class support to the Autism Helpline and Supporter Relations team
• telephoning to confirm pre-arranged appointments
• telephoning to take and accurately record feedback to questions on standard forms
• responding appropriately to any questions, concerns or worries raised
• speaking to our customers such as Helpline users, our members and supporters, fundraisers and the general public, etc.
• a positive attitude
• excellent communication skills
• a clear telephone voice and excellent telephone manner
• an excellent standard of English
• comfortable talking over the phone
• ability to put people at ease
• ability to ask questions sensitively
• sensitivity to individuals’ needs and confidentiality
• good administration skills
• ability to accurately record information

• an interest in autism
• ability to represent the NAS’s values whilst volunteering

We seek applications from anyone interested in the role, but particularly welcome applications from those with a diagnosis of autism or Asperger syndrome.

Training will be provided by the organisation for this position:

• a full one-day training session before starting your role
• volunteer induction
• online autism awareness training and other e-learning courses
• on-the-job training
• ongoing support and supervision with your line manager
• reasonable travel expenses will be reimbursed within London

• Mandatory training for the role will be from 9:45am – 4:15pm on Saturday 25th November 2017 in central London. Please ensure you are available for this training date before applying for the role.
