Description

Do you have what it takes to be an inspirational role model to children?

City Year UK is a youth social action charity which challenges 18 to 25-year-olds to tackle educational inequality through a year of full-time volunteering. As mentors, tutors and role models in schools, they support pupils growing up in some of the most disadvantaged communities in the UK.
The City Year experience empowers this exceptional and diverse group of young people to realise their aspirations and grow as leaders, both through their impact on children’s lives and through the training, coaching and career development opportunities they receive.

HELP MAKE A DIFFERENCE

From Monday to Thursday, City Year UK's volunteers are integral to the school day. They encourage pupils both in and out of the classroom to engage with and enjoy learning, while developing their own skills. On Fridays they meet to share experiences and benefit from training delivered by experts from across the education, business and voluntary sectors

As a volunteer, you will:

● Encourage focus-list pupils to look forward to school and enjoy learning, follow up on absence or lateness.
● Build meaningful trusting, coaching relationships with focus-list pupils to tackle frustration, isolation, anger, low self-esteem, attention seeking and distraction before they lead to acting out in the form of disruptive or negative behaviour.
● Supervise fun before-school and after school activities for the whole school.
