Location The volunteering takes place in Older People's own homes across the borough of Kensington and Chelsea.
Description

One –to-one visiting of older people who have a diagnosis of dementia and/or have memory difficulties. : Many older people living with Dementia become socially isolated which can impact greatly on their quality of life. Isolation may be due to a reduction in mobility or also when people become confused or forgetful. Support offered by a Befriender can help people maintain good mental health and emotional well-being.

Volunteers do not need to have experience of supporting people living with dementia although a willingness to learn is important. Training and ongoing support is provided.

This opportunity will assist you in gaining the following skills:

  • Planning/Organising

Training will be provided by the organisation for this position:

Volunteers will have a full induction and access to monthly support sessions with a training component around Dementia Awareness.
