Description

About Brightside:

We are an organisation who help young people reach their full potential, no matter who they are, where they live or what school they go to. We believe all young people deserve to have equal access to opportunities.

We facilitate this through online mentoring- connecting industry professionals and university students with young people to offer advice, support and ideas. This supports young people to make confident and informed decisions about their future.

Do you want to inspire young people to achieve their ambitions?

We want you to join our team of mentors and become part of our knowledge and skills based online mentoring projects. You will help the young people who need it most to develop the knowledge and connections required to be able to make confident and informed decisions about their next steps.

You will communicate with your mentees through a safe and secure online mentoring platform where you can exchange messages, share resources and information, and complete activities.

You will use your personal experience, knowledge and skills to help raise your mentee's aspirations and support them to develop their own skills.

Please note that whilst we try to match all mentors that apply, we can not guarantee that we will find you an immediate match. However, we will contact you with opportunities that might be of interest as they arise throughout the year.

Commitment:
Mentors are required to commit to take part for the duration of whichever project they have agreed to support.
Attend at least one training session (delivered via webinar)
Commit to supporting up to 5 mentees
Log in to the secure mentoring platform on average once a week at a time that suits them, responding to messages (approx. 1 hour per week)

This opportunity will assist you in gaining the following skills:

  • Interpersonal/Confidence
  • Problem solving/Creativity
  • Planning/Organising
