Description

The Islington Bereavement Service is a befriending service where trained volunteers offer support to adults living in Islington who have experienced the death of a family member, relative or another important person in their life.


Our volunteers provide:
•companionship and a listening ear
•emotional support
•company to go to medical appointments, the library, or on a local outing
•help in finding important support services.

You don’t need any previous experience, just good communication and listening skills, empathy and flexibility.

This opportunity will assist you in gaining the following skills:

  • Interpersonal/Confidence
  • Planning/Organising

Training will be provided by the organisation for this position:

The next two day training course is on Thursday 28th and Friday 29th September 2017.

Attendance at this in an essential requirement prior to starting in this role.

Interviews for training: Tuesday 19th or Friday 22nd September.

Desirable: •You must be able to offer 5 – 6 hours of your time per month •You need to attend induction training •We ask for a minimum commitment of 6m
