Summer 2017 Opportunity for 3rd Year Undergraduates and Postgraduate Students Only

Islington Mind is a charity that promotes mental health well-being. We believe that it is everyone’s right to have good mental health and we aim to deliver client-led services and training to prevent mental ill health, support recovery, raise mental health awareness and tackle stigma.

We are looking to offer volunteering placement to people interested in fundraising to be part of our vibrant team aiming to secure the funds needed to fulfil our mission.

You will be part of the communication and fundraising team and you will help with allocating trusts and foundations, carrying out research and complete grant applications and with managing the charity’s social media streams.

We will provide in-house training on mental health awareness and mental health Fist Aid, introduction to Islington Mind's mission and services and opportunities to work on projects of special interest to you.

Requirements

Interest in metal health and in fundraising

A basic understanding of the principles of fundraising/marketing

Good communication skills

Familiarity with social networking platforms (Facebook, Twitter, etc.)

Good IT skills including Word, Excel and Internet

1 or 2 days (5-7 hours a day) a week for minimum of 6 months

Expenses/travel reimbursed against receipts.

We will pay for your DBS check

About you

The organisation has indicated the following requirements from volunteers who want to take this opportunity.

Essential: PG or 3rd yr UG. 1-2 days (5-7 hr /day) a week for minimum of 6 months. Interest in fundraising. Driven, self motivated.

Desirable: Experience of fundraising, Social media. Research skills, marketing / communication skills. Ability to seek out funders.
