Hours per week 3 hours
Location Volunteers either meet their Buddy at the Buddy's home address or at the venue they are going to. All the service users live in the borough of Kingston. The scheme is based at 50 Canbury Park Road, Kingston,KT2 6LX, a couple of minutes walk from Kingston train station.
Description

Could you give a few hours once a month to befriend an adult with learning disabilities and share leisure interests together? Volunteers and their buddies go to the cinema, theatre, sporting events, bowling, shopping, out for a drink or something to eat - whatever you both are interested in.
This role gives great experience of working with people with learning disabilities and training and on-going support is given.
All your expenses will be paid and we can provide a reference.
You will also gain the satisfaction of helping someone who is at risk of isolation get out into the community and have fun!

Training will be provided by the organisation for this position:

Initial training session covers an introduction to working with People with Learning Disabilities, an awareness of Safeguarding Adults issues, communication skills and how to handle situations that may arise.
On-going support, supervision and training is provided, including training in Makaton.

We are unable to reimburse travel expenses
